Amy was hurting but really wanted to see Mike to make sure he was doing OK. She made it into the wheel chair and Kevin and I took her for a ride down to see him. They were both overwhelmed and said only a few words. Mike said this in unbelievable.
Amy was somber and emotional. This has been major and dramatic event for everyone. We are all over tired and overwhelmed but holding it together.
I can't find the words tonight to describe how I feel. I am beat and will get to bed.
By the way the images Kevin posted were taken for us as Amy wanted documentation of all she went through to donate her kidney. For those of you that know Amy you will understand this need to document and to have these images. For those of you who do not know Amy you may be shocked or left queazy by these images. They are shocking! The purpose of this blog was to document the entire experience. All the parts are important to us. We want people to know how this really is and that although there is blood and pain and nervous days and stress. All that we have done... All that Amy has given is worth it and we would do it again. No regrets. Mikie is worth all of it! That is love and we love him dearly.
Every nurse has told us how lucky we are that Mike was not on Dialysis. They tell us how we made it before he got so much worse. WE DID IT! Now we just have to take care of Mike and Amy and get them better.
Last night when I left the hospital I was in a daze and as I left Amy said WE DID IT! I smiled and gave her a kiss. I thought WE DID IT and as I made my way to the elevator I looked out the window into the night and across the street was a large banner that said WE DID IT!
