Escherichia coli in the blood

They diagnosed Mike today as having E coli. They are not sure how he got it but they are working to clear it up with a new strong antibiotic. He also has a dry cough that they think may be an additional virus and they are checking it out to see what they can find.

His x rays on his chest and sonogram for his kidney looked real good today. I brought him Greek food for lunch today so he got out of eating hospital food which he hates. He is hungry again and eating better now.

The doctors say he is responding well to treatment and he may be able to come home and another day or two depending on if they can get everything under control. he will be on oral antibiotics when he gets home and I am sure asked to rest and lay low for awhile.

This image is off the internet of E coli rods. Nasty little bacteria. Alex and I are doing well. I spent part of the day redoing the bedroom to get ready for Mike's return home. I can't wait to have him back home!
